The news broke Friday of the passing of Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. The late rock legend had reportedly been quietly battling brain cancer for the last three years.

As I made the announcement to the classic rock fans in Mid-Michigan, I was quick to hear from Lansing's biggest Rush fan, Wayne Rood. Wayne was luck enough to have traveled to see Rush many times. Not only was he able to catch a string of four shows in eight days starting in Las Vegas, then Phoenix, and ending in Los Angeles. Wayne was also nice enough to share some photos, including this shot of Neil Peart's final song performed live...Working Man

Wayne also captured this great shot of Peart mid-solo in Phoenix in the third to final show.

Now, we go back to when Peart first joined the band. Wayne has the playbill for his first ever live show with Rush in Pittsburgh, and the playbill for the band's first ever live performance in the U.S., right here in Lansing at the old Northside Drive-in. Thanks, Wayne, for sharing the memories!
