My brother was in a nasty farm accident when he was younger. He slipped into a corn auger and almost lost his leg. He was lucky and can still walk today.

My dad was working at a grainery in Webberville in the 90's. A guy he was working with, George Pung, fell into a silo and never emerged. It was the only time my dad ever missed one of my games. It also lead to a very dark time for our family and my dad.

Farming is very dangerous. The next step a farmer takes could be their last. I have so many friends who farm, I hope some of them take a little more time today. Don't take your next step for granted or your next breath.

My dad is a few years older than Robert Othmer.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
