MI Man Shot in Throat With Arrow
This past Sunday, 61 year old Michael Downey was scouting the woods in Van Buren County's Alemena Township, looking for potential hunting spots. This is an area that is reportedly quite familiar to Downey, according to his wife, Janis Downey.
Downey was wearing a hunting vest for his trek through the woods, when he realized he'd been shot through the neck with an arrow. He then made his way to his truck and drove several miles to get help.
The arrow miraculously missed major arteries in his throat; he is recovering from surgery at a Kalamazoo hospital.
Michigan State Police are investigating the incident and asking the public for assistance in trying to put together the pieces of the story.
Doctors believe that Downey will make a full recovery.
