A new year, a new start in a new city means there is lots of new things to see and do!

asked you all to give me your suggestions of things to check out in Lansing and you all gave me so much, I made a spreadsheet!

After reading and writing about a recent study that found over half of Americans feel coffee is essential for a positive day, I used that as a jumping off point to check out the local coffee scene!

Out of the six I have planned for this week, I ventured over to The Coffee Barrel first!

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the warm, inviting atmosphere with a little rustic charm and, of course, quirky coffee shop flair!

Also, don't think they don't take their name seriously, the place is tastefully decorated with coffee barrels!

Everyone seemed relaxed and so friendly, especially the barista (I'm sorry for not catching her name) who helped me decide from their wide array of choices!

I ended up getting a "Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble" latte and boy did it make me crumble too!

My latte (made with soy because I'm lactose intolerant) was fantastic!

Venturing over to their comfy armchairs I sipped my coffee and enjoyed spending time with myself as a table of about nine people just chatted about life in what seemed their regular hangout!

They also have bags of their coffee available for coffee consumers to take home and boy do they have a lot in all kinds of crazy, interesting flavors!

All in all, my first coffee stop on this spreadsheet sprawl got me off to a great start of my exploration of Lansing!

Even made sure to get a Peanut Butter Mocha latte to go to bring to my friend when I went to help paint her kitchen!
