Paul Rodgers will commemorate his 2017 Free Spirit tour with a live CD and DVD scheduled for a spring release.

As Rodgers explained at the time, he was inspired to put the tour together partly as a means of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Free, the band he started with guitarist Paul Kossoff. "We wanted exactly that, to be free to play the music that we loved, blues and beyond," Rodgers recalled in a press release. "We knew we had something special between us when people told us that when we played time stood still."

That milestone prompted Rodgers to put together a set list focusing on Free favorites — and head out on a series of dates that included the May 28, 2017, stop at the Royal Albert Hall captured in the upcoming Paul Rodgers – Free Spirit – Celebrating the Music of Free. While a specific release date and track listing have yet to be announced by Rodgers' label, plans call for the package to be available in a wide variety of formats, including digital and vinyl editions, as well as a run of Free Spirit dates in the U.S. later this year.

"I have been making music for a long, long, long time, so to get super charged and re-inspired to perform was a revelation," Rodgers noted. "I loved the Free Spirit Tour and the guys who helped create the magic. I hope you feel it too. Just lose yourself in the music and let it fuel your soul."
