According to a report from WLNS.com, vinyl album sales boomed during the week of Christmas, leading to a new one-week sales record.

There were 1.243 million vinyl albums sold in the United States in the week ending December 26, 2019. Nielsen Music says it is the largest sales week for vinyl albums ever.

The top two album titles sold that week were from current pop artists Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, selling 16,000 copies each. However, the rest of the top five titles sold for the week were chock full of classic rock.

The number three album title for the week was The Beatles Abbey Road LP, selling 12,000 copies, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy:Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack, which is packed with classic hits like Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky" and David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream."

Queen' Greatest Hits album sold 11,000 copies for the week, good for number five on the list.

According to the report, the vinyl craze continues to grow in the U.S. In 2018, vinyl sales saw an increase in sales for the 13th consecutive year.
