All Request Saturday Night Playlist April 17, 2021 Deep Purple/Rainbow

Another interesting show tonight. Celebrating Ritchie Blackmore’s birthday from April 14th, Ritchie was a founding member of Deep Purple back in 1968. Ritchie also formed Blackmore’s Rainbow along with Ronnie James Dio back in 1975 after leaving Deep Purple. So not only great Deep Purple requests, but all of the Rainbow fans stepped up as well. 

There are still Saturday Nights where I play songs I had never previously heard or know. This audience is great about turning me and you on to great songs that get little airplay anymore. And most of these songs exist in the Larry Allen collection, so I’m sure Larry got some education from the audience as well. I know if you requested it and Larry didn’t have it, he would make it his mission to find it. So he already did a lot of the hard work for all of us who love this show. 

This weekend I played two Deep Purple songs I had not heard before, but got requests for, they were “Not Responsible” and “Living Wreck”. We also had a request for another Larry nugget, a band called Leafhound. Very hard to find and worth a lot of money if you do, they did a song called “Work My Body” which was featured from the Larry Allen collection.
