There’s no doubt the airwaves were heavy Saturday Night, as in Heavy Metal. We featured early hard rockers Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne. It was drummer Bill Ward’s birthday last Wednesday. Our vinyl cut on Larry’s turntable was from a brand new copy of the very first self titled Black Sabbath album, we featured The Wizard, and it rocked! We played all of the well known tracks, and a few I hadn’t heard before. I love it when that happens.

We’re digging into some of the most Progressive Rock bands this spring, we’ve done Spooky Tooth, now Black Sabbath, and next week it will be King Crimson. Then we’ll move back into some mainstream classic rock with bands like Joe Cocker and David Bowie in future shows. All Request Saturday Night has been on WMMQ for 36 years now, and we’ve explored a lot of bands and music over the years, with your help of course.

This week I had a call from a gentleman named Jim in Jackson who asked me to play a song from Trapeze for his friend Bill in Pennsylvania. Then he told me this was a game he and his friend in Pennsylvania used to play with Larry Allen. I’m honored they started it again with me after almost 8 years. As always, thank you for keeping the spirit of All Request Saturday Night alive and rockin'!
